Securing The Cities (STC) San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) Training Opportunity

Securing the Cities (STC) San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) is offering five 8-hour CTOS Primary Screener/Personal Radiation Detector (PER-243) classes the week of February 14th in San Francisco and San Mateo counties.  PER-243 provides the Primary Screener with training to perform a preliminary radiological assessment with a Personal Radiation Detector (PRD). Training also includes operating a PRD to detect radiation, locate a source, measure radiation levels, assess the threat status of a situation, categorize threats, and adjudicate alarms.

Attached is information for the Introduction to Radiological/Nuclear WMD Operations (AWR-140-W) online course which is a prerequisite for all in-person CTOS training.

STC SFBA is excited to announce that we are expecting the delivery of both Personal Radiation Detectors (PRD) and Radioisotope Identification Devices (RIIDs) beginning this month.  Because over 1,000 PRDs were ordered, it will likely take several months to receive all the PRDs.  The first round of distribution will likely be the middle of February to those agencies/individuals that took 2021 STC SFBA courses.

Lastly, we are expecting to offer some 2-hour Primary Screener/Personal Radiation Detector Refresher (PER-300) courses in 2022.  The full 2022 STC SFBA Training Schedule will be released soon.
